[Card News Episode 12] Traffic Management Strategy in Seoul’s Changing Transportation Landscape

The conditions of Seoul’s transportation system are expected to change, driven by multiple factors, including steadily shrinking populations, population aging, and the rising number of single-person households, in addition to diversifying values and perspectives.

Travel times will increase, attributable to metropolitanization and technological advances in electric and autonomous vehicles, and these will profoundly transform Seoul’s urban transit landscape.

Innovations in future mobility technology will blur the lines between individual vehicles and public transit and alter overall perceptions of traffic.

Consequently, the validity of current traffic policy on management of travel demand and the transition to sustainable transport is being questioned.
