Seoul baby boomers have 500 million won assets

Baby boomers living in Seoul have assets valued more than 500 million won ($426,000), and 36 million won in debt on average, research showed Monday.

According to the Seoul Institute report, "Present Conditions of Retired Baby Boomers (born in 1955~1963)," baby boomers possess 501 million won on average. Of the assets, 74 percent or 381 million won is residential property.

The amount of assets and debt are proportional to the level of education, the report shows.

More than 45 percent owe an average 36 million won.

College graduates or dropouts have 618 million won in assets and 53 million won debt, while high-school graduates have 430 million and 23 million won respectively.

Average monthly income is 2.3 million won, but spending is 2.7 million won per month.
